Course Description
Bayyinah’s Fundamentals of Classical Arabic is a consecutive ten-day evening course designed for individuals with daytime commitments helping them get a solid footing in essential Qur’anic Arabic. Students will cover many aspects of Arabic grammar in creatively designed lessons that focus exclusively on the Qur’an’s language. This course includes weekend nights.

Who is this course for?
This class is primarily attended by adults, but some students have successfully taken this course at the age of 9. Regardless of comprehension level, students must know how to read the Qur’an in Arabic. No previous vocabulary or ability to write in Arabic is required, as basic Arabic syntax, as it applies to the Qur’an, will be taught in the course. This course is also great for seasoned Arabic students who need an organized review of core concepts along with teachers and tutors of Arabic who are looking for proven and effective teaching strategies for their students.

What will be accomplished during this class?
Upon completing this course, a student will be able to fully analyze the grammar of Surahs such as al-Fatihah, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas, as well as understand the basic concepts and sentence structure of Arabic.

The course aims to build a strong foundation in understanding core principles governing the Arabic language through a study of examples taken exclusively from the Qur’an. Students are given the bigger picture of Arabic grammar so that they understand exactly what they know, what they need to know and what areas they need to work on individually.

It introduces students to the rich scholarly legacy of academic works on إِعْجاز الْقُرْآن الْبَلاغِي , loosely translated as the linguistic miracle of the Qur’an. This introduction is meant to inject students with inspiration and intrigue into the incredible literary majesty of the Arabic Qur’an so that they are motivated to continue their Arabic studies.

Students will understand the usage of critical vocabulary (roughly defined as vocabulary that shows up on virtually every page of the Qur’an) and be made to memorize it with meaning.
